Feb 9, 2019 - Mario Kart Wii includes 16 new courses and 16 classic courses from previous Mario Kart games. For the first time ever, players have the option.
Further ReadingPerfect accuracy is for any console emulator to shoot for, and it's one that many emulators never come close to achieving. The team behind the open source Dolphin emulator took a major step closer to reaching that goal last week, though, that can actually purchase and download games legitimately from the Wii Shop Channel. Accessing Nintendo's Shop Channel servers from the PC-based emulator isn't exactly a plug-and-play affair. For one thing, you'll need to use some homebrew software on an actual Wii to. From there, you have to to extract the certificates and keys that Nintendo uses when validating connections to its online servers. With all that in place, though, Version 5.0-2874 of Dolphin can now connect to the Wii Shop Channel servers to download WiiWare and Virtual Console games.
The emulator will even let you re-download games that were previously purchased on the original Wii itself and let you enter a valid credit card to purchase new games. (This is why people use emulators, right?).
Further ReadingWhile Dolphin users can now enjoy access to Nintendo's Shop Channel servers, the emulator obviously can't connect to the online gameplay servers that. Efforts continue to and that allow games like Mario Kart Wii and Super Smash Bros. Brawl to still be played online. The new Shop Channel access comes on top of years of previous work to convert Dolphin, which, into a fully featured Wii emulator. That effort has led to a maniacal quest for accuracy in the high-level emulation of housed on the Wii's ARM coprocessor, as well as that lets the Wii's chips work together seamlessly. That high-level emulation has allowed for Dolphin to recreate a lot of very low-level features found on the actual Wii hardware. The emulator can now download required System Update files directly from Nintendo's servers, copy games to and from a virtual SD card, and from games like Wii Fit and Dragon Quest X (which encode data using a proprietary and little-understood Wii File System).
We can't wait to see just how much further the Dolphin team can go in perfectly recreating the functionality of Nintendo's most popular home console. Promoted Comments.

Mario Kart Wii includes 16 new courses and 16 classic courses from previous Mario Kart games. For the first time ever, players have the option of racing with either karts or motorbikes. Players can also hit the road as their personalized Mii caricatures in addition to the handful of classic Nintendo characters found in the game. True to the series, the game features tons of racing, plenty of power-ups and oodles of objects for players to use to slow down other drivers. This title can install the on the Wii console. Contents.
Emulation Information Controller Map Overlap Mario Kart Wii is capable of using both GameCube controllers and Wii Remotes. If a physical controller is set to emulate both a GameCube Controller and a Wii Remote concurrently, it will operate both devices at the same time. To fix, migrate controls to use separate physical controllers. Missing Map If Texture Cache Accuracy is changed during a race, the map in the bottom right corner may disappear. The faces of the racers will still show up. Problems Wii Pinboard Pictures To properly display images pinned to the Wii Pinboard, you must disable the hack Store XFB Copies to Texture Only.
PAL 50 Flickering This game does some weird depth based effect when rendering at PAL50. D3D11/12 do not handle this effect correctly.
To fix, use OpenGL or enable PAL60. Translucent Blue Rectangle If Disable Fog is disabled and Ignore Format Changes is enabled, a translucent blue rectangle will be present on the screen.

If Ignore Format Changes is disabled, the translucent blue rectangle will no longer appear. Ignore Format Changes is now disabled by default. Lens Flare Effect For the lens flare effect to be emulated when looking towards the sun, Store EFB Copies to Texture Only must be disabled. Mii's Faces Mii faces may disappear if graphics settings are adjusted during gameplay, a savestate is loaded or if entering/exiting exclusive fullscreen (not borderless fullscreen) during a race. If the faces disappear, they will return in the next race. To prevent this, disable Store EFB Copies to Texture Only. Store EFB Copies to Texture Only now disabled by default, and uneffected by opening the config.
Vulkan Backend Issues When using the Vulkan backend the Wii Remote warning may render incorrectly and a frosted box appears in the upper left corner of races. This seemed to duplicate the Translucent Blue Rectangle problem corrected by disabling Ignore Format Changes. Channel Installation Functionality The Mario Kart Channel is not installed properly, even though the game indicates the install completed successfully. Partly fixed by, which added initial title import support, but breaks the NAND when actually installing the channel.
Fixes the issue. Enhancements Anisotropic Filtering Problems The red and green glow on the conveyor belts in the Toad's Factory track (maybe other effects too) breaks if anisotropic filtering is used. HD Texture Pack 4xIR Bloom Fix Bloom effects render incorrectly with IR1.
